A simple timer reduced energy consumption in a military facility by 34,000 kWh annually

Sometimes the simplest things can have the greatest impact when saving energy in commercial buildings. The key is to identify those opportunities. Slipstream worked for several years with Belkin International and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab in a Department of Defense sponsored study to evaluate a Belkin technology designed to identify and quantify specific electric loads operating at any given time. The system works by applying machine learning algorithms to measurements made where electrical service enters a building. More

Slipstream is named a Green Master for fourth year in a row

We are excited to be named a Green Master by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council (WSBC), for the fourth year in a row. The Green Masters Program is a recognition and assessment program for Wisconsin businesses interested in improving and promoting their sustainability initiatives. The objective of the program is to provide companies with a benchmark for themselves and the ability to compare their sustainability performance to other companies.  More

Celebrate National Weatherization Day with knowledge from our weatherization experts

Slipstream has a rich history supporting the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) locally in Wisconsin and across the country. We develop and deliver building science and programmatic trainings as well as support the development and maintenance of program specifications and guidance. We do this by serving on Standard Work Specifications (SWS), Building Performance Institute, and Home Energy Professional Certification scheme committees. Because of this rich history, it should be no surprise that we are excited to be celebrating National Weatherization Day on Wednesday, October 30. More

Q-Sync motor performance in walk-in coolers and freezers

Q-Sync motors are a new type of innovative, highly efficient and cost-effective, permanent magnet synchronous (PMSM) motor. Between our own field research and the existing literature, studies find that in reach-in and walk-in cooler and freezers, Q-Sync motors cost-effectively use 50% - 80% less energy than traditional shaded-pole (SP) and permanent split capacitor (PSC) motors, and are even more efficient than the newer electronically commutated (EC) motors.
