Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council recognized Sandra Henry, President and CEO of Slipstream, as the 2024 recipient of the Sustainable Leadership Award in the Executive Leadership category yesterday.

The recognition adds to Sandra's growing profile as a local climate leader. Last month, the Chicago-based climate action nonprofit Elevate honored Sandra Henry with their Climate Leadership Award for her outstanding contributions and dedication to creating a brighter, greener future as the CEO of Slipstream.

The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council's award ceremony took place on November 12, 2024. For more information on WSBC, contact Jessy Servi Ortiz.

"It is significant to be recognized with the Sustainable Leadership Award in the Executive Leadership category for all the work that Slipstream has led in climate action externally and internally within my first two years as CEO," said Sandra Henry. "While the nation processes this moment of change, our commitment to climate action, clean energy, research, and education with our partners and communities is unwavering. I'm grateful on behalf of my leadership team, staff, and board, and this is further inspiration for showing up for our mission with our partners and clients in the communities we serve."

Sandra Henry's entire career has been dedicated to sustainability. She brings decades of experience working within utilities, nonprofits, and government offices to unite diverse stakeholders and advance a more equitable and just clean energy future. Previously, Sandra led the implementation of clean energy initiatives as Senior Director of Energy and Sustainability at Elevate.

As the first Black woman Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Chicago, Sandra led the charge to advance the city's clean-energy plans. Her actions included signing onto the Sierra Club's Ready for 100 campaign, making commitments to transition to 100% renewable energy community-wide by 2035, and to electrify Chicago's bus fleet by 2040. Her effort to build ground-mounted solar systems on underutilized, city-owned land steered Chicago to a win in the Bloomberg Philanthropies American Cities Climate Challenge. She currently sits on the Institute for Market Transformation Board of Directors as Board Chair.
