The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) spends $3.3 billion on energy each year, 15% of which is for lighting. Typical retrofits are LED-only, leaving additional savings (up to 70%) from advanced lighting controls stranded.

There is a huge knowledge gap in advanced lighting controls within DoD.

This project informs DoD managers, designers, and operators about advanced controls concepts, the principles of operations, and general cost-effectiveness of the most common control strategies.
