1.1 Basics of HVAC Equipment and Systems
This is course 1.1 of the Fundamentals of Building Control Systems module.
There are many heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that are designed for different applications, complexity, and controls. In this presentation, we introduce the basics of HVAC equipment and systems for facilities personnel and others who manage HVAC systems. This presentation will cover different HVAC systems from small unit heaters and air conditioning units to large Variable-Air-Volume (VAV) systems. The session will cover how each system works and typical applications for each system. This session will also cover the mechanical engineer’s roles and the different design considerations when selecting systems for HVAC design. This presentation will help prepare the viewer for future sessions on HVAC systems controls.
