The Institute of Market Transportation and Slipstream will discuss the findings from their multi-year field study on commercial energy codes, funded by the Department of Energy. The study looked at how large commercial buildings dealt with complex HVAC controls and lighting controls in the energy code. This research aimed to benchmark approaches in design and construction and to validate the impacts of energy code elements and other energy efficiency initiatives. We will discuss the opportunities we identified for improvement and gaps that can be addressed through training, interventions, and future versions of the energy code.
