Sylvia Ewing
Sylvia Ewing is the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Slipstream. Her executive experience includes marketing and communication strategy, leadership development, fundraising, narrative change, financial inclusion, media training, and special events. She has worked with government, nonprofits, political campaigns, and organizations who advocate for environmental justice and climate action.
An avid mentor and collaborator, Sylvia focuses on using appreciative inquiry, creating mission- and value-based communications, and meeting people where they are. She is particularly sensitive to collaborating with people who have been disenfranchised to help them unleash their full potential and tackle barriers of inequity and injustice. Sylvia helps individuals and organizations find hidden assets and build community with others.
Sylvia is an inductee in The HistoryMakers African American archives for media and the recipient of the Illinois Humanities Award for 2020. She is the Immediate Past Board Chair of Kartemquin Films, and she currently serves on the Board of Illinois Humanities, as well as the Advisory Boards for the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University and Press Forward Chicago, an independent media initiative of the Chicago Community Trust and the MacArthur Foundation.
