Slipstream selects Sandra Henry as new CEO

The experienced decarbonization and equity leader to helm the national nonprofit.

MADISON, WI – Slipstream Group, Inc., a national nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating climate solutions for all, announced today that its board of directors has chosen Sandra Henry as its next President and CEO. Henry, who currently serves as Senior Director of Energy and Sustainability at Elevate, will succeed Frank Greb, the organization’s current CEO, who retires on July 31, 2022.

"After a national search and thorough deliberations, the board is pleased to have found the best person to lead Slipstream's high-impact work in equitable building decarbonization," said Katherine Hammack, chair of Slipstream's board of directors and sustainable building industry leader. "Sandra has a track record of change leadership in the civic, utility, green building, and private sectors. Her commitment to environmental justice and her experience creating high-impact teams make Sandra uniquely qualified to lead Slipstream’s team of 170+ energy and financing professionals."

Henry's experience includes being the first Black woman appointed as the City of Chicago's Chief Sustainability Officer, Chief Sustainability Officer and Illinois Director of Operations for Walker-Miller Energy Services, and senior program manager for ComEd, an investor-owned utility based in Northern Illinois. Her nonprofit experience includes her work at Midwest-based Elevate, as well as serving on the board of directors for the Institute for Market Transformation in Washington, D.C. and as chairwoman of the Illinois Green Alliance board of directors and co-chair of GreenBuild 2018, held in Chicago. Henry holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and a Climate Reality leader. She is a Master Gardener and avid cyclist.
